Dehler 34
Description
The Dehler 34 is a German sailboat designed by Umberto Felci and Patrick Roséo as a versatile cruiser-racer, balancing competitive performance for club racing with comfortable accommodations for family coastal cruising and short passages on lakes or protected waters. Introduced in 2003 by Dehler Yachts in Germany during the early 2000s cruiser-racer boom, the Dehler 34 Performance evolved from Felci/Roséo's collaboration on models like the Dufour 36, targeting budget-conscious sailors with its lightweight fiberglass monohull, a moderate displacement/length ratio for quick acceleration, and a high ballast ratio for stiffness in gusts. It features a fin keel (bulb optional) and spade rudder for agile upwind handling, a wide beam for stability, and a masthead sloop rig for straightforward sail trim and good power in moderate winds, with a comfort ratio suitable for weekend overnights. Production ran until 2007, with approximately 200 units built, succeeded by the updated Dehler 34e in 2008 (sharing the hull but with refinements like a taller rig).
