Deerfoot 62
Description
The Deerfoot 62 is a legendary high-performance bluewater cruising sailboat designed by Steve Dashew. It was built in small numbers (typically 4–6 hulls across variants like Deerfoot 62 and 62.2) during the 1980s by various yards, including Scandi Yachts in Finland (e.g., 1986 examples like "Diva") and others in custom or semi-custom programs. The Deerfoot series pioneered modern fast, lightweight, short-handed offshore cruising concepts — emphasizing narrow hulls, long waterlines, low wetted surface, and efficient rigs for excellent passage-making speeds and safety. These boats were often aluminum (some fiberglass), with flush decks, center cockpits, and luxurious yet practical interiors, making them "ultimate cruising machines" for long-distance voyaging (many completed extensive ocean passages).
