Deblois St. Dory

Deblois St. Dory

Description

The Deblois Street Dory (often abbreviated DSD or Deblois St. Dory) is a modern, plywood sailing and rowing dory designed by Clint Chase of Chase Small Craft (Saco, Maine, USA). Introduced in the mid-2010s (with the design evolving from earlier iterations around 2010–2015), it's inspired by traditional Swampscott dories but reinterpreted as a lightweight, kit-built boat optimized for sail & oar adventures, camping, cruising, and versatility. The hull form blends classic dory aesthetics (lapstrake planking, graceful bow curve, flat bottom with rocker) with modern stitch-and-glue plywood/epoxy construction for easier building and lighter weight. It's highly regarded in the small-boat community (e.g., WoodenBoat Forum, Small Boats Magazine) for its excellent rowing and sailing performance, stability when loaded, and ability to carry multiple people or gear safely.
