CT 43 Ron Holland
Description
The CT 43 (also known as the RH-43 or Ron Holland 43) is a performance-oriented cruising sailboat designed by renowned New Zealand naval architect Ron Holland, famous for his work on fast, elegant yachts including several Nautor’s Swan models in the same era. Built by Ta Chiao Shipbuilding Co. (Taiwan) from 1985 to 1991, it features fiberglass construction with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder for balanced handling, good upwind performance, and seaworthiness suitable for offshore cruising. The design shares hull lines with the similar Formosa 43 (often built by the same or related Taiwanese yards), blending modern performance elements with practical bluewater attributes like a moderate displacement hull for comfortable motion. Production was limited to just 13 units, making it a rare, semi-custom boat with variations in interior fit-out and rigging; it's praised for its speed potential, solid build quality, and aesthetic appeal reminiscent of Holland's Swan designs rather than the more traditional "pirate ship" styling of some Formosa/CT counterparts.
