CSY Aft Cockpit 37
Description
The CSY 37 Aft Cockpit (also known as the CSY 37 Cutter or CSY 37 Plan A/Plan B) is a robust American-built bluewater-capable cutter from the late 1970s, designed primarily for the Caribbean bareboat charter trade but widely adopted by private owners for serious cruising and liveaboard use. It is renowned for its extremely heavy fiberglass construction (solid layup with no coring in hull or deck), exceptional stability, spacious interior for its length, and proven seaworthiness. Owners frequently describe it as a "tank" — overbuilt, stiff, forgiving in heavy weather, and comfortable in a seaway, with excellent motion comfort and low capsize risk. The aft cockpit configuration (standard on all CSY 37 models) provides a large, secure cockpit and distinguishes it from pilothouse or walk-through variants of other CSY models. Designed by Peter Schmitt (CSY's in-house naval architect), it was built by Caribbean Sailing Yachts (CSY) in Tampa, Florida, USA, from 1978 to 1981 (CSY ceased operations shortly after). Production Quantities: 87 hulls built (raised-deck cutter configuration; total across all CSY 37 variants; a limited run contributing to rarity and strong resale value among bluewater enthusiasts).
