Crocker 26 Sloop (Stone Horse 26)

Description

The Crocker 26 Sloop refers to the fiberglass adaptation of the iconic Stone Horse sailboat, originally designed in 1931 by renowned naval architect Samuel Sturgis Crocker as Design #159. First built in wood (at least 30 units until WWII), the design was revived in fiberglass by Edey & Duff in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, starting in 1968, with production continuing until around 2010. Often called the Stone Horse 26 to distinguish it from the shorter 23-foot version (stretched amidships by 3 feet for better proportions and rig balance), it's a classic trailerable cruiser-racer emphasizing seaworthiness, simplicity, and timeless Cape Cod aesthetics. The cutter-rigged sloop (with a small jib and staysail) is renowned for its ability to handle rough coastal waters like Buzzards Bay or Maine's coast, with over 100 fiberglass units built.
