Core Sound 17 Mk 3

Description

The Core Sound 17 (often called CS17, current version is the Mark 3) is a highly regarded trailerable cat-ketch designed by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs. It's a modern plywood/epoxy stitch-and-glue beach cruiser that's fast, shallow-draft, easy to rig solo, and proven in tough races like the Everglades Challenge and various long-distance events. Owners love it for its versatility: daysailing, camp-cruising (sleeps 2 comfortably with a tent or dodger), shallow-water exploration, and surprising speed in light to moderate winds. The design draws from traditional Carolina working skiffs but adds performance features like a kick-up centerboard/rudder, self-tacking sails, tabernacled masts for quick setup (no standing rigging), and optional water ballast for stability and easier trailering.
