Contessa 35
Description
The Contessa 35 is a classic sailing yacht renowned for its seaworthiness, performance, and offshore cruising capabilities. Designed by Doug Peterson in the early 1970s as an IOR (International Offshore Rule) One Tonner, the prototype (named Gumboots) won the 1974 International One Ton Cup. Built primarily by Jeremy Rogers Ltd. in the UK starting in 1974, around 80 racing versions and over 70 cruising versions were produced. It's a masthead sloop with a fin keel and spade rudder, offering a good balance of speed and stability—popular for both racing and long-distance blue water sailing.
