Description
The Competition 1000 is a classic American IOR Half Ton Class racer designed by renowned naval architect Alan Gurney (known for designs like Windward Passage and other offshore performers) and built by Sven Svendsen's Boat Works (Svendsen's Boat Works) in Alameda, California, USA, primarily in 1973–1974. Production was very limited (likely fewer than 10–20 hulls, including a strip-planked prototype), as it was intended as a competitive IOR 1/2-ton racer rather than a mass-market cruiser, with emphasis on lightweight performance under the International Offshore Rule of the era.
