Com-Pac 21 Eclipse
Description
The Com-Pac Eclipse (also known as the Com-Pac 21 Eclipse or simply Eclipse) is a popular American trailerable pocket cruiser designed by the Hutchins Design Team (in-house at Com-Pac Yachts/The Hutchins Co., with input from naval architect Bruce Bingham on styling and hull refinements) and built by Com-Pac Yachts (Hutchins Co.) in the United States starting in 2004, with production continuing into the 2020s (exact hull count not publicly detailed but in the hundreds, as it's a steady seller in the trailerable cruiser market). It stands out for its excellent balance of trailerability, ease of setup (via the proprietary Mastendr™ system for single-handed mast raising/lowering), shallow draft (18" board up for beaching/launching), surprising interior volume (V-berth forward, settees, enclosed head, galley, and berths for 4), fractional sloop rig with a powerful fully battened mainsail, plumb bow for better performance and space, fiberglass construction with a shoal keel plus swinging centerboard for stability and windward ability, and proven coastal cruising capability—making it ideal for ramp-launching, daysailing, or weekend/overnight adventures while being forgiving and fun for solo or family use.
