Description
The Com-Pac 16 (often called the original Com-Pac 16 or Mk 1) is a classic American trailerable pocket cruiser designed by Clark Mills (a Florida-based naval architect known for simple, seaworthy small boats) and built by Com-Pac Yachts (Hutchins Co.) in the United States starting in 1972 (with production running through the early 1980s until around hull #2201 in 1984, when it transitioned to the updated 16/2 or Mk 2 version). Over 2,800 hulls were built in the overall Com-Pac 16 family (including later variants), making it one of the most successful small trailerable cruisers ever, renowned for its exceptional build quality in a compact size—fiberglass construction with a fixed shoal keel (or optional centerboard in some), surprisingly roomy V-berth cabin with sitting headroom (sleeps 2 comfortably, plus quarter berths), enclosed head option, functional galley, easy single-handed rigging, shallow draft for beaching/launching, and proven coastal seaworthiness and stability, often described as a "big boat in a small package" ideal for daysailing, short cruises, or learning to sail. 1100 lbs.
