Description
The Comanche 42 (also known as Chris-Craft Comanche 42) is a classic American racing-cruising sailboat designed by the legendary firm Sparkman & Stephens (design #1867) and built by Chris-Craft (USA) from 1968 to 1970, with a limited production run of approximately 25 hulls. It was marketed as a light-displacement performance cruiser with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, drawing inspiration from contemporary S&S designs like the Swan 43, featuring tank-tested hull lines for speed and seaworthiness, high-quality fiberglass construction with teak trim and accents, a spacious interior (private forward stateroom, saloon, galley, and accommodations for 6–8), and strong ocean-crossing capability—many examples have logged extensive bluewater miles, including trans-Pacific and circumnavigation attempts, while remaining competitive in their era under IOR rules.
