Comet 1050

Comet 1050

Description

The Comet 1050 (also known as Comar Comet 1050) is an Italian fiberglass cruiser/racer designed by Jean Marie Finot (of Groupe Finot) and built by Comar Yachts in Forlì, Italy, starting in 1983. It is a development of the earlier Comet 1000, with a modern (for the era) fin keel + spade rudder configuration, moderate displacement, and good performance credentials—suitable for both coastal cruising and club racing. Production continued into the late 1980s/early 1990s, with a reputation for solid build quality, spacious interior for its length, and balanced handling. The design emphasizes a roomy cockpit, comfortable accommodations (typically 2 cabins, 1 head), and reasonable speed under sail, with a sail area/displacement ratio around 16–17 (reasonably good performer) and a comfort ratio of ~23 (suitable for coastal/offshore passages).
