Columbia 45 Tall Rig

Description

The Columbia 45 Tall Rig, designed by naval architect William H. Tripp Jr., was produced by Columbia Yachts from 1971 to 1976, with approximately 180 hulls built across the Columbia 45 series (Tall Rig as an optional configuration). This center-cockpit masthead sloop variant enhances the standard model's performance with a taller mast and boom for increased sail area (~811 sq ft vs. 698 sq ft standard), improving light-air speed and upwind ability while retaining bluewater stability—sleeping 6–7 in a spacious teak interior, perfect for offshore cruising or liveaboard.
