Westsail 33 (Archer)
Description
The Westsail 33 (Archer) is a fiberglass double-ender (canoe stern) bluewater cruiser built by Westsail PTY Ltd. in Fremantle, Western Australia, starting in 1980. It draws directly from Colin Archer's classic Norwegian pilot/rescue boat designs of the late 19th/early 20th century, emphasizing heavy displacement, long keel, full bilges, and exceptional seaworthiness for offshore and high-latitude sailing. Important note: This Australian-built Westsail 33 has no connection to the American Westsail Corporation (which built the famous Westsail 32, 28, 42, etc., and ceased operations years earlier). The name was licensed or adopted independently. It's a rare model (limited production, exact numbers unknown but low), often found in Australia or nearby regions, with a reputation for tough construction and proven ocean capability.
