cky cat ketch
Description
The CKY Cat Ketch is an exceedingly rare, custom-built iteration of Halsey Herreshoff's iconic cat ketch design—a 33-foot fiberglass cruiser blending traditional aesthetics with innovative, low-maintenance rigging. Produced solely by Cat Ketch Yachts (CKY), founded by builder John Newton, only five hulls were completed in the late 1980s (circa 1988–1989) before the company folded amid the era's sailboat industry downturn. It's essentially an elongated version of the more common Herreshoff 31 (about 100 built), optimized for bluewater passages or extended coastal cruising with a split rig that eliminates headsails and winches for shorthanded ease.
