Chesapeake 16 Hybrid Kayak
Description
This is the hybrid version of their iconic Chesapeake 16 sea kayak series (one of CLC's best-sellers since the 1990s, with thousands built). The hybrid variant swaps the standard plywood deck for a cedar strip-planked deck (beautiful, lightweight, and traditional-looking), while retaining the stitch-and-glue plywood hull for easier construction and durability. It's favored by builders who want a stunning wood-bright deck without the full cedar-strip complexity of a complete strip-built kayak. The Chesapeake 16 is designed for efficient, comfortable touring—great for day paddles, multi-day trips, or light coastal use—with excellent tracking, moderate speed, and good carrying capacity for gear.
