Cherubini 44
Description
The Cherubini 44 is a highly regarded classic bluewater cruising sailboat designed by John E. Cherubini (a naval architect known for early Hunter designs and influenced by L. Francis Herreshoff's work, particularly lines reminiscent of Ticonderoga/Tioga II). Built by the family-run Cherubini Yachts (USA, in New Jersey) starting in 1977 (with production continuing sporadically; a Mark II version was introduced in 2007 for the 30th anniversary, featuring updates like a fully molded fiberglass deck/deckhouse). Only about 35 hulls were produced in the original series. This yacht features elegant, timeless aesthetics: a proud clipper bow with modest bowsprit, graceful sheer line, curved/angled transom, low freeboard, narrow beam, and sweet tumblehome—creating a fast, easily driven hull with a soft, seakindly motion. It's optimized for serious offshore cruising: long waterline for hull speed, shoal keel/centerboard for versatility (deep performance + shallow access), and multiple rig options for shorthanded handling.
