Cheoy Lee Offshore 28
Description
The Cheoy Lee Offshore 28 (also known as the Offshore 28 Luders or Cheoy Lee Luders 28) is a compact, classic fiberglass cruising sailboat built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong from around 1972 to the late 1970s (estimates of 42–60 hulls produced). Designed by renowned naval architect A.E. "Bill" Luders Jr., it features a masthead sloop rig (some examples or brochures note cutter or ketch options, but sloop is standard), with a keel/centerboard hull for versatility—shallow draft access combined with deeper performance when the board is down. Heavy, durable construction with teak accents, solid build quality, and offshore capability in a smaller package. It's praised for classic lines, good motion comfort for its size, and suitability for coastal or short offshore passages, though it's tender (heels easily in breeze) due to moderate ballast and displacement.
