Cheoy Lee Pacific Clipper 25 (Frisco Flyer)

Cheoy Lee Pacific Clipper 25 (Frisco Flyer)

Description

The Cheoy Lee Pacific Clipper is a classic small cruising sailboat built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard Ltd. in Hong Kong starting in 1956 (with production examples from the late 1950s into the early 1960s, often listed around 1958–1962 for surviving boats). It was designed by Tord Sundén as a modified version of the original Nordic Folkboat (designed by Sundén in 1942), with adaptations by Cheoy Lee staff to suit fiberglass construction and local preferences; production numbers are not well-documented but appear to be low (a relatively rare early model, with limited examples surviving today, often rebranded or evolved into the Frisco Flyer series and later the Offshore 26). Special features include its modified Folkboat hull for seaworthy performance in a compact package, solid fiberglass construction (pioneering for Cheoy Lee at the time), full keel for stability and tracking, teak trim and interior accents typical of early Cheoy Lee builds, simple sloop rig (with options for variations), and a reputation as an affordable, capable coastal/offshore pocket cruiser with traditional lines and good motion in waves—ideal for singlehanded or couple cruising.
