Cheoy Lee 63 Ketch
Description
The Cheoy Lee 63 Ketch refers to the Cheoy Lee 63 Motorsailer (also called the Cheoy Lee 63 Long Range Motorsailer/LRMS or Motorsailor 63), a rare, heavy-displacement bluewater motorsailer built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong in the early to mid-1980s (primarily 1983–1985, with only about 9 hulls produced). Designed by Seaton-Neville (Steven Seaton and Neville Crichton), it's a pilothouse ketch rigged for versatile, shorthanded offshore passagemaking with strong motoring capability—optimized for long-range cruising, liveaboard comfort, and reliability in varied conditions. This model stands out in the Cheoy Lee lineup (fitting your series of inquiries on their classic sail/motorsailers) as one of the largest and most capable from that era, blending traditional ketch rig advantages with powerful twin diesels and enormous tankage for extended self-sufficiency. It's not a pure sailboat but a true motorsailer: sails well under canvas but excels when motorsailing or powering through calms/light winds.
