Cheoy Lee 43 MS

Cheoy Lee 43 MS

Description

The Cheoy Lee 43 MS is a Motorsailer (MS), a robust bluewater pilothouse motorsailer built by Cheoy Lee Shipyard in Hong Kong during the early to mid-1980s (primarily 1981–1985). Designed by Robert Perry, it's often rigged as a ketch or cutter-ketch (with a cutter foretriangle setup on the main mast plus mizzen), emphasizing heavy-duty construction, full keel stability, and excellent motoring/sailing versatility for long-distance cruising or liveaboard use. This model features a pilothouse for all-weather protection, spacious interior, and a powerful diesel for reliable passages when sails are down. It's not a pure performance sailer but excels in comfort, safety, and range—ideal for extended offshore or coastal voyaging. (Note: There's also a rarer Pedrick 43 from Cheoy Lee, a 1980s fin-keel sloop/cutter by David Pedrick, but it's less commonly called just "43 Cutter" and differs significantly from the Perry MS.)
