Chaser 29
Description
The Chaser 29 is a classic International Offshore Rule (IOR) Half Ton class racer designed by renowned American naval architect Doug Peterson, whose innovative work in the 1970s dominated competitive yacht design. It was built by Chaser Yachts Inc. in Erin, Ontario, Canada, starting in 1975, with production limited to a short run (primarily 1975–1976) before the company ceased operations and the molds were sold at auction to Bayliner, which modified the deck and coachroof to produce unauthorized variants like the Buccaneer 295 and later US Yachts models. Construction used fiberglass (FG) with a fin keel and spade rudder for a light-displacement, high-performance hull suited to racing, featuring lively handling, good upwind speed, and a masthead sloop rig.
