Channel 32
Description
The Channel 32 (also known as the Hunter Channel 32 or Channel 32/323) is a British-built family cruising sailboat from Hunter Boats Ltd. (UK), designed in the late 1980s/early 1990s as a practical, short-handed coastal cruiser with excellent shallow-water access via its signature twin/bilge keel configuration (though a deeper fin keel version was also offered). It's popular in the UK and Europe for its robust GRP construction, spacious interior (often accommodating 6 berths comfortably), self-tacking jib for easy handling, and good all-around performance—stable, predictable, and capable of cross-Channel passages, French canals, or longer coastal hops without being overly demanding. Owners describe it as a "solid, no-nonsense" boat that's forgiving for families or couples, with a reputation for dryness in chop and decent upwind ability despite the bilge keels. Production ran roughly 1980s–1990s, with a moderate number built (not ultra-rare but not mass-produced like Catalinas -- about 72 hulls produced).
