Chamberlain Dory Skiff 13

Chamberlain Dory Skiff 13

Description

The Chamberlain 13 (more precisely the Chamberlain Dory Skiff or 13-foot Chamberlain Dory Skiff) is a classic, small, traditional wooden rowing and occasional sailing boat originating from the designs of late 19th/early 20th-century Massachusetts builder William Chamberlain of Swampscott. Renowned for their handsome lines, exceptional rowing performance, and seaworthiness in choppy harbor or coastal conditions, these skiffs were historically used as tenders, workboats, or gunning (hunting) vessels. Modern versions are almost always based on lines taken and refined by John Gardner in the mid-20th century (as documented in The Dory Book and Mystic Seaport reproductions), resulting in a lightweight, double-ended, flat-bottomed dory with high flared sides for dryness and stability.
