Celestial 42
Description
The Celestial 42 is a relatively rare and lesser-documented bluewater cruising sailboat from the Celestial line produced by Xiamen Celestial Yachts (a Chinese yard originally based in Hong Kong, active in the 1980s). It was part of an experimental series of center-cockpit cruisers that included models around 42–48 ft, before the yard focused primarily on the more popular Celestial 48 (ketch or sloop/cutter rigs). The Celestial 42 appears to have been a transitional or limited-production variant in the mid-1980s, sharing design DNA with the 48 (a modified Ted Brewer concept refined by Bryce Fuhriman or similar collaborators). It's a moderate-displacement, fin-keel (or elongated encapsulated keel) center-cockpit cruiser built for offshore capability, good stowage, and comfortable liveaboard features. Information is sparse—often described in forums as a "joint USA-Australian project" or simply hard to research—likely due to low production numbers and the yard's shift to the 48.
