Catbird 18

Description

The Catbird 18 is a trailerable, plywood cruising sailboat designed by Karl Stambaugh of Chesapeake Marine Design (CMD). It builds on the popular Catbird 16 with more accommodations for overnight cruising, while retaining the flat-bottomed sharpie hull for stability, shallow draft, and ease of beaching. Ideal for solo sailors, couples, or small families, it emphasizes simplicity, affordability, and versatility for coastal or inland waters. The design supports day sailing, weekend trips, or light expedition use, with options for an open boat or a compact cabin. It has been featured in boating publications and forums, praised for its buildability and performance in varied conditions. Beam 8' Draft (bd up) 1'; (bd dn) 4'. Weight 2000 lbs.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
