Catbird 16
Description
The Catbird 16 is a compact, trailerable sailboat designed by Karl Stambaugh of Chesapeake Marine Design (CMD). It is a cruising sharpie with a flat-bottomed hull, ideal for day sailing, beach cruising, or overnight camping. The design emphasizes simplicity, stability, and ease of handling, making it suitable for solo sailors or small families. It can be configured as an open boat or with an optional cuddy cabin for basic shelter. The boat is praised for its quick assembly and forgiving performance in shallow waters, and it has been featured in publications like WoodenBoat Magazine (Issue 252, Sept/Oct 2016) and Boat Design Quarterly #23.

Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
