Description
Catalina presents the first cruising boat to bear the Catalina Morgan name. Representing the best elements of both marks, the 440 combines the rugged offshore features of Morgan with the comfort, ergonomics and style of a Catalina. The Catalina Morgan 440 (2004–2009, 83 hulls built) is widely regarded as one of the best-value deck-saloon cruisers ever produced: a raised-saloon 44-footer with enormous interior volume, panoramic 270° visibility, a huge aft owner’s stateroom with centerline queen and separate shower, a workable L-shaped galley, twin helms, and a bright, airy living space that rivals many 50-footers. Designed by Gerry Douglas with Nelson Marek hull input, it sails surprisingly well for its type (SA/D 18.0, easy 7.5–8.5 knots reaching, 180 nm days) and offers either a 5 ft 6 in wing keel for Bahamas/ICW cruising or a 7 ft 2 in deep fin for better windward performance.
