Catalina Morgan 381
Description
The Catalina Morgan 381 (also known as the Morgan 38 Mk II) is an American recreational center-cockpit sailboat designed as a comfortable coastal and moderate blue-water cruiser, combining Catalina's production efficiency with Morgan's traditional styling for spacious, family-oriented voyaging. Designed by Gerry Douglas, it was built by Catalina Yachts in Largo, Florida, from 1993 to 2000 (with the official "Catalina 381" branding starting in 1997). During this 8-year production run, approximately 84 units were constructed, making it a relatively low-production model in the Catalina lineup and highly sought after for its rarity and quality. It's constructed of solid fiberglass (GRP) laminate hull with a balsa-cored deck, featuring a standard wing keel for shallow-water access and a spade rudder with partial skeg for protected, responsive handling. The design emphasizes livability with a wide beam, walkthrough transom, and generous tankage, while offering better-than-average performance for a center-cockpit cruiser.
