Description
The Catalina 38 is a classic sailboat that combines the performance of a racer with the comfort of a cruiser. Designed by Sparkman & Stephens and built by Catalina Yachts, it was first introduced in 1978 and became a popular choice for both racing and cruising. The boat features a masthead sloop rig, a raked stem, and a balanced spade rudder, making it a nimble and efficient vessel. The Catalina 38 is known for its sleek lines, round tumblehome, and the ability to sail beautifully in light air. It has a draft of 6.80 ft (2.07 m) with the standard keel and 4.90 ft (1.49 m) with the optional shoal draft keel. The boat is powered by a Universal Atomic 4 25 hp (19 kW) gasoline engine, and it carries 6,850 lb (3,107 kg) of ballast. The interior includes sleeping accommodation for five or six people, with a bow cabin, settee berths, and a galley. Disclaimer. Boats are not all the same -- even when produced in the same factory of the same model. Sailrite does its best to publish accurate dimensions, but we often find it worthwhile to have our customers measure their boats carefully before we produce kits for them. You should take the same precautions, especially when the data is not from Sailrite.
