Catalina 37 (Capri 37)

Catalina 37 (Capri 37)

Description

The Catalina 37 (also known as the Capri 37 (Catalina) or simply C37) is a purpose-built one-design racing sailboat from Catalina Yachts (USA), designed specifically for the Congressional Cup match-racing series in Long Beach, California. Introduced in 1990, it draws from an earlier Nelson Marek IOR hull design but features a flush deck for clean lines and better crew work. A fleet of these boats is maintained by the Long Beach Sailing Foundation (donated/built by Catalina founder Frank Butler in 1989–1990 for the event), ensuring consistency in match racing (e.g., no rating issues from wear or modifications). Only 31 hulls were built, making it a rare, specialized racer rather than a mass-production cruiser.
