Catalina 28 MK II Std Rig

Description

The Catalina 28 MK II Standard Rig is a compact coastal cruiser designed by Gerry Douglas and built by Catalina Yachts from 1995 to 2010, with around 200 units produced. It's an updated version of the original Catalina 28, featuring a wider aft hull section for a larger aft cabin, a redesigned galley, and improved sail controls, while retaining the brand's emphasis on ease of handling and interior comfort. The Standard Rig is a masthead sloop with moderate sail area suited to a wide range of conditions—less powerful than the optional Tall Rig (which increases sail area by about 15% with a taller mast)—making it ideal for short-handed day sails, weekends, or family overnights in protected waters. It sleeps 4–6 comfortably, with a stable, forgiving ride that's popular among beginners and retirees. LOA 28' 4". LWL 23' 10". Beam 10' 4". Draft (fin) 5' 3". Draft (wing) 3' 8". Ballast (fin) 3200 lb. Ballast (wing) 3500 lb. Displacement (fin) 8300 lb. Displacement (wing) 8600 lb. Introduced in 1995.
