The Carter 40 (also known as the Carter 40, Sea Eagle 40, or Havsörnen 40 in some markets) is a classic IOR One Ton Cup-influenced offshore racing/cruising sailboat designed by Dick Carter (American naval architect, fitting your ongoing series on his designs like the Carter 30, 33, 36, 37, 39, etc.). Introduced around 1970, it served as a production version of Carter's successful One Ton prototypes (e.g., influenced by boats like Stay Loose, which Carter sailed to notable wins, including first in its class in early 1970s events).
