Carter 36 (Texas One Ton)

Carter 36 (Texas One Ton)

Description

The Carter 36 (more formally known as the Texas One Ton or Texas One Ton (Carter 36)) is a classic IOR-era offshore racing sailboat designed by Dick Carter (American naval architect, continuing the performance lineage from your prior Carter queries like the 30, 33, 3/4 Ton, and 2 Ton). Introduced in 1974, it was developed as a production oriented One Ton Cup contender under the International Offshore Rule (IOR), with Carter's office acknowledging influence from Doug Peterson's successful GANBARE design (lighter, narrower, with a pintail stern for better speed in evolving IOR rules). It was marketed through Carter Offshore as a semi-custom racer that could be finished for cruising.
