Cape Dory 30 MKII Cutter
Description
The Cape Dory 30 MKII (Mark II) is an enhanced fiberglass sailboat designed by Carl Alberg and built by Cape Dory Yachts in East Taunton, Massachusetts, from 1983 to 1986. A total of 45 units were produced, offering refinements over the original Cape Dory 30 with a wider beam for more interior volume, a larger cockpit, improved galley and head layouts, and a standard cutter rig for better sail-handling versatility. It retains the full keel for stability and seaworthiness, making it a capable coastal or light offshore cruiser with classic Alberg styling—modest overhangs, a spoon bow, and a canoe stern. The interior sleeps 4-5 comfortably: V-berth forward, enlarged head with shower, U-shaped galley, saloon with settees (convert to berths), and an aft quarter berth. Standard power was a Yanmar 2GM diesel (16 hp).
