Cape Dory 270

Description

The Cape Dory 270 is a fiberglass sailboat designed by Dieter Empacher and built by Cape Dory Yachts in East Taunton, Massachusetts, from 1984 to 1986. Only 21 examples were produced, making it one of the rarer models in the Cape Dory lineup. It features a keel/centerboard hull for adjustable draft (3 ft board-up for shallow waters, 7 ft board-down for upwind performance) and a cutter rig, blending the stability of a full keel with shoal-draft versatility. Ideal for coastal cruising, it's praised for its solid construction, balanced handling, and traditional aesthetics. The interior includes a V-berth forward, enclosed head with shower, U-shaped galley, dinette (converts to berth), and quarter berth, sleeping up to 4-5. A near-identical version was later produced as the Hadley 27.
