C&C Mega 30 Lift Keel

Description

The C&C Mega 30 Lift Keel (also known as the Mega 30 One Design or OD) is a lightweight, high-performance racer designed by the C&C Design Group (with key input from Peter Barrett of North Sails) and built by C&C Yachts primarily in Canada, the US, and Germany from 1976 to 1977, with approximately 115 units produced. This trailerable version features a lifting bulb keel for shallow-water access and easy transport, emphasizing speed, agility, and one-design racing fairness over cruising comfort. Marketed internationally (e.g., as the Runn Racer 912 in Sweden), it has a narrow hull for low drag, a fractional sloop rig for dynamic handling, and a transom-hung rudder for quick maneuvers. With a PHRF around 120–135, it's a blast in 8–18 knots—dry, fast, and responsive—but its spartan interior suits day racing or short overnights for 3–4 crew. As a product of C&C's innovative era, it's a rare gem for vintage racers seeking trailering convenience.
