Description
The C&C Landfall 42 is a classic Canadian bluewater-oriented cruising sailboat from C&C Yachts, designed by the C&C Design Group (Cuthbertson & Cassian) and built from 1976 to 1984 (out of production now). It marked the start of C&C's "Landfall" series shift toward dedicated cruisers (under George Cuthbertson's direction), competing with charter-focused models from builders like Morgan, Irwin, and Whitby. It gained popularity in the Caribbean charter trade and among serious coastal/offshore cruisers for its solid build, comfortable motion, and self-sufficient layout. The design prioritizes seaworthiness and liveaboard comfort over outright speed—featuring a cutter rig (for versatile shorthanded sail plans), raised transom, rounded raked stem, fin keel with skeg-hung rudder, and heavy displacement for a gentle ride in heavy weather. Construction is fiberglass with wood trim, and it's often described as "heavily built" with good tankage for extended cruising.
