C&C Frigate 36

C&C Frigate 36

Description

The C&C Frigate 36 (also known as the Frigate 36) is a classic Canadian cruiser/racer designed by Peter Barrett and built by C&C Yachts from 1968 to 1972 (approximately 50–60 hulls total). It was one of the very first boats to carry the C&C name after the 1969 merger of Hinterhoeller, Bruckmann, and Cuthbertson & Cassian. This boat is essentially the production version of the famous Condor — the balsa-cored, flush-deck racer that won the 1967 SORC overall and stunned the sailing world. C&C quickly adapted that winning design into a slightly more civilized street version with a small coachroof and modest interior, and the Frigate 36 was born. It is widely regarded as one of the prettiest, fastest, and best-handling 36-footers of its era — stiff, quick to plane, and still very competitive in vintage or PHRF racing today.
