C&C 61
Description
The C&C 61 is a classic, high-performance custom racing/cruising sailboat from C&C Yachts in Canada, built in very limited numbers (only about 9 hulls produced) starting in 1970–1971 at Erich Bruckmann's custom shop in Bronte, Ontario. Designed by the renowned Cuthbertson & Cassian (C&C Design Group), it was one of the largest semi-production fiberglass sailboats of its era and a groundbreaking design aimed at competing boat-for-boat with contemporary 12-Meters while offering fast cruising capability. The boat was commissioned initially for fast line honors in events like New York Yacht Club cruises, with a focus on speed, stiffness, and offshore prowess. It features a fin keel with a spade rudder, moderate-to-heavy displacement for its length, and a powerful sail plan—making it a formidable performer in its time.
