C&C 43 Mk II
Description
The C&C 43 Mk II (commonly referred to as the C&C 43-2 or simply C&C 43) is a Canadian International Offshore Rule (IOR) racing sailboat from C&C Yachts, designed by C&C Design (Cuthbertson & Cassian) and first built in 1980. It is not a direct "Mark II" update of the earlier 1971 C&C 43-1 (the semi-custom "Limited Edition" racer/cruiser with about 15 hulls); instead, the 43-2 is a separate, unrelated design specifically optimized as a competitive IOR racer, often marketed simply as the C&C 43. Production numbers are unknown but believed to be low (limited run, likely dozens at most), making it a rare boat today. This model emphasizes speed, stiffness, and offshore racing performance under the IOR rule—lighter and more aggressive than the earlier 43-1, with a focus on competitive edge in events like SORC or club racing rather than heavy cruising amenities. It features a masthead sloop rig, internally mounted spade-type/transom-hung rudder, and a deep fin keel for excellent upwind ability and handling.
