C&C 43 Mk I
Description
The C&C 43 Mk I (also known as the C&C 43-1 or simply C&C 43) is a classic Canadian racer/cruiser from C&C Yachts, designed by Cuthbertson & Cassian (C&C Design Group) and built in limited numbers (only about 15 hulls produced) starting in 1971 at Bruckmann Manufacturing's custom shop in Oakville, Ontario. Marketed as a "Limited Edition" or semi-custom yacht, it was one of the largest fiberglass production boats of its time and emphasized high performance for offshore racing while offering comfortable cruising accommodations. It's part of C&C's early "custom" series, with notable racing successes (e.g., class wins in SORC and Chicago-Mackinac Race). The boat features a sleek, modern-for-its-era hull with a raked stem, raised reverse transom, masthead sloop rig, internally mounted spade rudder (wheel steering), and a fixed swept fin keel. Construction is solid fiberglass with wood trim, making it robust and durable. Interiors varied semi-customly, but typically included a spacious layout for its size.
