Description
The C&C 40 Mk II (also badged as C&C 41 in some markets), designed by Robert Ball and built by C&C Yachts in Canada from 1981 to 1985 with ~120 hulls produced, is a high-performance 40-foot cruiser-racer featuring a 39.58-foot LOA, 12.58-foot beam, 29.5-foot waterline, and a deep 7.0-foot fin keel (or optional 5.5-foot shoal) carrying 7,500 pounds of lead ballast in a 16,900-pound displacement for spirited stability, an SA/D of ~18.5, and PHRF ratings of 96–114. Its tall double-spreader masthead sloop rig with rod rigging delivers 742 sq ft of sail area, enabling blistering upwind speed and downwind planning in 15+ knots, while the hand-laid fiberglass hull (solid below waterline, balsa-cored deck) and high-aspect spade rudder ensure responsive handling and proven offshore capability. The luxurious teak interior offers 6’4” headroom, sleeping 6–7 across a V-berth, aft cabin, pilot berths, and convertible saloon, plus a U-shaped galley, enclosed head with shower, and large nav station. Renowned for dominating 1980s SORC, MORC, and Great Lakes PHRF fleets while remaining a fast, comfortable family cruiser, the C&C 40 Mk II / 41 remains a coveted modern classic
