C&C 39 Standard Rig
Description
The C&C 39 (Standard Rig) is a classic Canadian IOR-influenced racer-cruiser with a fin keel and spade rudder, designed by Cuthbertson & Cassian (George Cuthbertson and George Cassian, the founding design team of C&C Yachts, known for high-performance fiberglass monohulls blending speed, aesthetics, and offshore capability in the early 1970s), built by C&C Yachts in Canada (with some involvement from Hinterhoeller Ltd. in early phases); production ran from 1971 to 1974 as one of the first production boats explicitly tailored to the new IOR rule (replacing CCA), emphasizing a large rig for light-to-moderate wind dominance while retaining good heavy-weather manners and cruising comfort; quantity manufactured is low at 48 hulls total (a short three-year run, contributing to its cult status among '70s boat enthusiasts for retained value and loyal owners who praise its handsome lines, fast upwind performance, huge spinnaker potential, and proven offshore credentials including South Pacific cruises).
