Description
The Cambria 44 (often listed as Cambria 44/46 due to its on-deck length of 44 ft and overall length around 46 ft with reverse transom) is a premium performance cruising sailboat from the Cambria series, designed by David Walters and built semi-custom by David Walters Yachts (initially in Portsmouth, RI) and later associated with Cabo Rico Custom Yachts in some production. Introduced around 1985 (first hulls launched late 1983/early 1984), it was part of a line praised in Ferenc Maté's The World's Best Sailboats for rivaling top-tier builders like Hinckley, Alden, and Little Harbor in quality and craftsmanship. This model blends racer-like speed with bluewater comfort—fast and responsive for shorthanded offshore or coastal sailing, yet stable and sea-kindly with excellent motion comfort. Features include Airex-cored hulls and Divinycell-cored decks for strength, insulation, and reduced weight; engineered to exceed Lloyd's/ABS standards.
