Description
The Cal Cruising 36 (also known as the Cal 36 Cruising or Cal 36 Lead Keel variant) is a classic American racer-cruiser sailboat designed by C. William Lapworth. Built by Jensen Marine (Cal Yachts) from 1968 to 1970, approximately 48 hulls were produced as a cruising-oriented evolution of the standard Cal 36, featuring a lead ballast keel for improved stability and a slightly modified interior for enhanced comfort while retaining the lightweight fin keel with spade rudder for agile handling and solid hand-laid fiberglass construction. Ideal for coastal racing, club fleets, or family overnights, it offers a lively yet forgiving ride in 10–20 knots with good seaworthiness on short passages.
