Cal 35 Cruising Sloop

Description

The Cal 35 Cruising Sloop (also known as the Cal 35 Cruise) is a classic American bluewater-capable cruiser designed by C. William Lapworth as a more comfort-oriented evolution of the racer-focused original Cal 35. Built by Jensen Marine/Cal Boats from 1973 to 1974, approximately 120 hulls were produced. It features a moderate-displacement fin keel with spade rudder for balanced handling and tracking, solid hand-laid fiberglass construction (balsa-cored deck on some), and a masthead sloop rig (ketch optional) suited to coastal cruising, family weekends, or short passages. Renowned for its seaworthiness, dry ride in 15–25 knots, and spacious layout for the era, it's forgiving yet capable offshore.
