Cal 34 MK III
Description
The Cal 34 MK III is the final and most refined iteration of the classic American racer-cruiser sailboat designed by C. William Lapworth. Built by Jensen Marine (Cal Yachts) from 1977 to 1979, approximately 20–30 hulls were produced as part of the overall ~196 Cal 34 series (earlier marks emphasized racing, while the MK III shifted toward bluewater cruising with a bridge deck for better protection and added wood trim). It features a fin keel with spade rudder for responsive handling, solid hand-laid fiberglass construction (balsa-cored deck), and a masthead sloop rig suited to coastal racing or family passages. Renowned for its balance, speed in 10–20 knots, and spacious interior for the era, it's forgiving yet capable offshore
