Cal 3-30

Description

The Cal 3-30 is an American cruiser-racer sailboat designed by William "Bill" Lapworth as an evolution of the earlier Cal 30 and Cal 2-30 models. Built by Jensen Marine/Cal Boats (under Bangor Punta Corp.) from 1973 to 1974, it was specifically designed as an IOR (International Offshore Rule) 3/4-ton racer, emphasizing performance for club racing under PHRF (typical rating ~180-192) while retaining coastal cruising capabilities. The boat features a solid fiberglass hull, a fixed fin keel, and a spade rudder, offering responsive handling and seaworthiness for small crews or families. Only about 100-200 units were produced, making it relatively rare compared to earlier Cals.
